Angela Robertson Nangala
Biography
Angela Robertson Nangala is a talented artist from the remote Aboriginal community of “Yuendumu” in the Tanami Desert region of Central Australia (293kms northwest of Alice Springs, Northern Territory). Angela is the daughter of highly acclaimed artist, Margaret Lewis Napangardi and the granddaughter to the renowned Paddy Lewis. Angela is also the nice of the famous, late July Watson Napangardi and Dorothy Napangardi. Angela has developed her Dreaming under the guidance of her mother and influence of her artist family creating beautifully vivd depictions of her sacred Dreaming known as “Mina Mina”. “Mina Mina” represents the significant ceremonial sites that were created during the Dreamtime as the ancestral spirits travelled through Tanami Desert. Angela, like her mother Margaret Lewis and her late aunty Judy Watson, incorporates bold colours in combination with organic movement, resulting in a stunning abstract depiction of her Country.
