Fong Chung-Ray is a Chinese-American artist, born in 1934 in Henan, China. He is recognized as a pioneer in the field of abstract Chinese painting. His early life was marked by the disruptions of war and revolution, which led him to relocate to Taiwan in 1949. It was there that Fong began to hone his artistic skills, eventually gaining international acclaim for his innovative approach to abstraction within the context of Chinese art traditions. Fong's work has been showcased in numerous group and solo exhibitions worldwide since 1958, and his pieces are held in the permanent collections of major international art museums. In 1975, he moved to California, where he continued to develop his artistic practice and became a U.S. citizen.
