"I am an American artist born in Miami, Florida, with alligators and coconuts and oranges in the backyard. I am now living in Leipzig, Germany since 1990. Political refugee since then. I was the first American artist in Leipzig after the wall fell. I sold circa 30 colorful jazz art paintings alone that first year. Originally I bought a one-way ticket to Paris, France from Province-town, Cape Cod USA, and never looked back. I made my way to E. Germany. It was 1990, the time of the Velvet Revolution here in East Germany, a soft revolution against dictatorship and human rights abuse of the commi backed social dem party. This was for me a time when oil paint was 30 cents a tube, and people wanted to buy free ideas and wanted to see new things. Banners and advertisements were done in white linen so I could rip down outdated meters of adds, and take it home and paint on it. One of my paintings still has the advertisement shining through. A great time for me as an artist.A strange man in a strange land. I didn't speak German back then, so had to communicate through my art. I was also even attacked by neo-nazis protecting our squats. I could and did squat an entire deserted factory floor as a studio, and remnants of the GDR and its mentality still existed everywhere. The art of those days here was abstract, trying to be modern. I was painting here at the same time with Neo Rauch when he was doing abstract only. I was always doing figurative and still love it. Sadly I somehow pissed off the big fat cat art dealer here cause I didn't immediately speak German and wasn't a German. I have always painted jazz art, I like to call it; I try to paint love. fast and quick strokes, like abstract to capture spontaneous gold. I do colorful figures of fantasy and realism, love, the warm embrace, and music, with a positive flair, I hope. Leipzig has influenced my creativity and artworks in a big way. Or maybe the people have influenced me. My goal is to breathe life into an image, if possible, then share it. I'm usually painting oil on canvas. I have added some drawings and rare lithographs. All works includes a Certificate of Authenticity.I have done many commissions. I will bubble wrap and box each picture and find the fairest price to ship to you quickly! "
