Jang Jin
Biography
Though the technical mastery that goes into each ceramic piece that Korean artist Jang Jin creates is hardly the first thing that comes to mind when viewing one of her elegant works, without such expertise her balanced creations would not be possible at all. A professor of ceramic art in Seoul, she creates pieces that are as light as air and exceedingly pleasant to the touch. Jang often references the natural world, in the organic forms of her bowls, cups, and vases, and in her color palette, which evokes the soft hues of spring: robin’s-egg-blue skies, the gentle green of a budding leaf, or the fresh off-white of a petal juxtaposed with a luxe touch of gold.
