Biography
Marco Breuer is a German photographer born in 1966, renowned for his innovative approach to photography that often eschews traditional methods. Instead of using a camera, Breuer employs a variety of experimental techniques to create his works. His tools range from everyday objects like frying pans and turntables to more unconventional implements such as shotguns and power sanders. Breuer's education in photography began at Lette-Verein Berlin, followed by advanced studies at Hochschule Darmstadt–University of Applied Sciences, where he graduated in 1992. His work spans a range of media, including chromogenic paper, black-and-white photograms, and gum bichromate prints. Breuer's contributions to the field have been recognized with a Guggenheim fellowship, and he has shared his expertise as a lecturer at prestigious institutions such as Yale School of Art and Princeton University. Collectors and institutions are drawn to Breuer's work for its unique blend of conceptual rigor and material experimentation. His pieces challenge conventional perceptions of photography, making them highly sought after in the art market. Breuer currently resides in upstate New York, where he continues to push the boundaries of photographic art.
