Raoul Du Gardier
Born 1871 • French
Raoul du Gardier was a student of Gustave Moreau, Théobald Chartran, Elie Delaunay and Albert Maignan. He first exhibited in Paris in 1897 at the Salon des Artistes Français, where he received an honourable mention. He also received a bronze medal at the 1900 Universale Exposition. From then on he regularly participated in the various Salons, often receiving acknowledgements and awards. He was also shown at the Salon de Brussels in 1910. Du Gardier produced mostly genre scenes and seascapes. Interestingly, his wife is almost always present in his prints. He also illustrated several books, one of which was Les Grandes Croisieres by Paul Chack.
