Born on September 5, 1975, she has a Swedish mother and a Dominican father, which has influenced her diverse artistic style. Marmolejo's early education in graphic design and illustration took place in Norway, after which she pursued fine arts and illustration at the Altos de Chavón School of Design in the Dominican Republic. Her talent was recognized with the Charles Bludhorn Scholarship, enabling her to further her studies at Parsons The New School for Design in New York City, where she graduated in 2000.
