About This Auction

Between commitment and passion, the collection of Claude and Grazyna Cluzel was born from their wanderings (through fairs, studio visits, galleries, and auction houses) and from the fruitful encounters they had in Paris or elsewhere in Europe with artists, art critics, and dealers. Yet nothing predisposed these engineers in steel and metallurgy to the artistic field, except for the particularity of their profession, "which is about moving towards the future through the pursuit of novelty and modernity," Grazyna Cluzel explains. Collecting contemporary art from the 1960s onward was a bold choice, driven by a genuine intellectual ambition, reflecting a profound level of discernment. True masterpieces of the 20th century, their paintings and sculptures—selected with meticulous care—count among the greatest icons of minimal and conceptual art.
