Château Shatto
Founded in March 2014 in downtown Los Angeles, Château Shatto is dedicated to considered and ambitious exhibition making. The program was built around four artists initially represented: Helen Johnson, Parker Ito, Cayetano Ferrer and Body by Body. The program has now expanded to include Aria Dean, Jacqueline de Jong, Hamishi Farah, Van Hanos and the Estate of Jean Baudrillard.
Recent exhibitions include Aria Dean's first solo exhibition in Los Angeles; Cécile B. Evans' exhibition 'Something Tactical is Coming', which toured to the gallery following presentations at Renaissance Society and Glasgow International; and the first dedicated solo exhibition of Jean Baudrillard's lifetime prints. Forthcoming exhibitions include Katja Seib's first solo outing in Los Angeles, opening September 2019; and a group show focused on diminutive painting.
Additional to exhibitions and fairs, Château Shatto has commissioned performances, hosted readings and collaborated on broader artist research projects. Château Shatto has participated in Frieze New York; Condo New York; Art021, Shanghai; Paris Internationale; Artissima, Turin; UNTITLED, San Francisco; and Art Brussels. Artists' work has been placed with major museums, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Musee d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris; the Tate Modern, London; Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney; YUZ Museum, Shanghai; Mu.ZEE, Ostend; les Abattoirs, Toulouse; Studio Museum, Harlem; and the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco, amongst others.
