David Castillo Gallery
David Castillo is a preeminent gallery in the United States in the identification, development and presentation of ground-breaking artists of color, women and queer artists. The gallery was established in 2005 under sole ownership. David Castillo represents internationally acclaimed artists including Sanford Biggers, Kate Gilmore, Lyle Ashton Harris, Kalup Linzy, Xaviera Simmons, and Shinique Smith, among others. In an ongoing manner from year to year, the gallery has been named hundreds of times in prominent publications and it has effectively advocated for the inclusion of its artists in dozens of museum solo and hundreds of museum group exhibitions. The gallery has placed the work of gallery artists in major institutions including dozens recently, such as The Guggenheim, New York; The Studio Museum in Harlem; The MCA Chicago; The Museum of Modern Art, New York and many others. Among the gallery’s corporate clients are Deutsche Bank and UBS. The gallery’s artists have helped shape the most current vision of contemporary art. Gallery artists have exhibited in nearly twenty recent major Biennials such as Sao Paulo, Kiev, Habana, Prospect, Montreal, Cuenca, Busan, and The Whitney Biennial. In 2014, Castillo relocated to the historic Albert Anis Building in Miami Beach. The gallery has mounted over 120 exhibitions and has published and financed important monographs on the majority of its artists. Hundreds of published books provide in-depth analysis of the gallery’s artists.
