The Elvira González Gallery opens in Madrid in February 1994. Founded by Elvira González, who owned and directed the Theo Gallery for 30 years (from 1966 to 1991) it is currently directed by her daughters, Elvira Mignoni and Isabel Mignoni. The gallery specializes in modern and contemporary European and American art and has produced some important exhibitions as Mark Rothko in 1995, Picasso and Women in 1996, A Permanent Esthetic. Seven Thousand Years of Modern Sculpture in 1997, Alexander Calder /Yves Tanguy in 1999, Dan Flavin, Donald Judd, Richard Serra in 2003, Donald Judd, Progressions 1960-1970 in 2009, Alexander Calder in 2011, A. Tàpies: The 60´s and 70´s, Michelangelo Pistoletto in 2012, Robert Mapplethorpe. Works from 1980 to 1989 in 2013, Fausto Melotti in 2014, Sol LeWitt in 2015, Juan Muñoz in 2016 and Joan Miró in 2017, A view of things to come, Olafur Eliasson in 2018, Günter Haese. Sculptures in 2019. Renowned artists such as Miquel Barceló, Waltercio Caldas, Olafur Eliasson, Robert Irwin, Chema Madoz, and Robert Mapplethorpe have joined the gallery over the past years. Galería Elvira González collaborates with leading museums and cultural institutions and advises private and public collections. In addition to the exhibitions, the gallery has a large inventory of works by renowned artists.
