Founded in 1996, Original & Authentic Aboriginal Art specialises in Aboriginal Fine Art from the Central andWestern Desert, The Kimberley’s and Arnhemland. Our gallery offers a diverse collection of traditional and contemporary artworks. Original & Authentic Aboriginal Art acquires its works through Australia’s prominent art centres as well as representing leading independent Indigenous artists. The founding Director, Alexis Hessen has been involved with Indigenous arts since 1988 and has a Bachelor of Arts (Indigenous Studies) major in Aboriginal Cultures and major in Comparative Indigenous Studies at the University of South Australia. Original & Authentic Aboriginal Art is a member of the City of Melbourne’s Indigenous Code of conduct that ensures the ethical treatment of artists and ensures the authenticity and provenance of the paintings.
