Timothy Taylor
Founded in 1996, Timothy Taylor has developed and stewarded a multi-generational roster of artists, united by a lineage that stems from an interest in Post-War abstraction. Through this dialogue, Sean Scully, Alex Katz, Kiki Smith, Josephine Meckseper, Eduardo Terrazas, Ding Yi, Eddie Martinez, Armen Eloyan, and Shezad Dawood – among others – are positioned as the contemporary heirs to the legacy of Post-War abstraction, a legacy that includes the Estate of Antoni Tàpies, also represented by the gallery. In recent years, Timothy Taylor has undergone a significant and exciting regeneration. In 2019, the gallery unveiled the new London space situated in a five-story townhouse located in Mayfair. This new space builds upon the 2016 international expansion of the gallery with Timothy Taylor New York, situated in an historic townhouse in the heart of Chelsea. Both galleries’ exhibition spaces are complimented by dedicated viewing rooms that are optimized for special projects and Timothy Taylor’s ongoing expansion in the secondary market. Most recently, and with an eye to re-energizing the gallery’s program, Timothy Taylor has taken on the representation of British artists Daniel Crews-Chubb (b. 1984, Northampton, UK) and Annie Morris (b. 1978, London, UK) whose practices constitute a contemporary response to the modern challenge of surface-led abstraction – a conversation that Timothy Taylor has, and continues to, encourage in the international art market. In keeping with this renewed dynamism, Timothy Taylor will pursue this dialogue in the form of a considered series of exhibitions highlighting the extension and re-vitalisation of the gallery’s historical program.
