Biography

Adébayo Bolaji is a British multi-disciplinary artist of Nigerian roots. Self-taught, he began painting after establishing himself as an actor. The dialogue of change and the focus of the individual within a connecting society, whether that be anthropological, religious, historical, or popular culture, is at the center of his practice. With experience on both screen and stage, before and behind the curtain, Bolaji is not just an artist who effortlessly breaches the gap between painting and sculpture, and blurs the lines between his personal life and a shared, creative persona presented to the viewers; he’s also a thinker and poet, often posting his musings online for his followers to consider. As a painter, he utilizes vibrant and metaphorical language to narrate a different story within each painting, allowing the audience to participate in the works actively.
