Biography

I work with text and image in the shape of exhibitions, video, sound and books. I am broadly interested in how idea and matter are interwoven and this interest has led me to work on diverse subjects such as the Greek sponge divers dance, woven textile as the fabric of the digital, uploading and the colour of ancient sculpture. I most often write in Danish but some of my works are in English, please check out the list below. I got my Master of Fine Arts degree from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2015 and my BFA from the same school in 2012. In 2009 I graduated from The Danish Academy of Creative Writing. Since 2010 I have published seven hybrid fiction books in Danish on major and minor Danish publishing houses, three of the titles have been translated into Swedish and/or Norwegian. My third book 'I civil' (in English: 'Recollection') is translated into English by Paul Russell Garrett, an excerpt can be found in the 2015 winter issue of the American online journal Asymptote. Jennifer Russell is currently translating an excerpt from the novel Marble from 2014 into English. Copies of unpublished translations will be given upon request. My visual work has been shown in Denmark at Kunsthal Charlottenborg, ARoS, The Museum of Contemporay Art in Roskilde and The National Gallery of Denmark among other places, and abroad in Melbourne, London, Leeds, Reykjavik, Riga and Ulaanbaatar. In 2017 I received a three-year working grant from the Danish Arts Foundation, and in 2015 I was awarded the Danish Crown Prince Couple's Rising Star Award. The ceremony and TV-show can be seen here.
