Amy Beecher
Biography
Amy Beecher is an interdisciplinary artist whose work combines painting, digital imaging, performance, and sound. Her large scale installations are informed by her academic research and personal experience, interweaving references from art history, consumer culture, and somatic experience. Born and raised in New York City, Beecher holds a BA from Brown University and an MFA in Painting and Printmaking from Yale University. Untitled Art Fair, The International Center for Photography, and Storm King Art Center have commissioned her work. Solo exhibitions include those at Providence College-Galleries, GRIN (Providence, RI), Primetime (Brooklyn, NY), and Tiger Strikes Asteroid (Philadelphia, NY), with reviews by Art in America, Art New England, and Big Red Shiny. Fellowships and residencies include those at The MacDowell Colony, Shandaken: Projects, and The Vermont Studio Center. She joined the faculty of Marlboro College as an Assistant Professor of Painting and Drawing in 2017. Upcoming exhibitions include a site-specific installation at Crush Curatorial in September of 2019.
