Anne Nelson
Biography
Anne C. Nelson is a New Orleans based artist whose abstract work includes landscape-based depth and a sense of solid ground, as well as painted and collaged surfaces which draw attention to surfaces occupied by mark, texture, and color. Looming shapes, dense spaces, layers of accumulated paint, and buried visual influences act as visual metaphors for experiences in which half-articulated or fully submerged personal histories and tacit beliefs exert influence over individuals and relationships. Nelson is a Professor of Practice in painting and drawing at Tulane University. She is a member at Staple Goods Gallery and Collective in the St. Claude Arts District.
