Biography

Brett Henrikson is an artist and professional who lives and works in New York, he received his MFA in 2019 from the School of Visual Arts, and holds a BFA in 2011 from the Rhode Island School of Design. He has served a number of positions in the arts, from teacher to non-profit president. Brett is often processed based in his approach to art making and make work often in multiple mediums, he has created textiles, 3D printed sculptures, traditional photographs and wet plate photographs. His current body of work Next Slide utilizes images from art history and alters them through slide scanning. Inspired by art history and bold enough to challenge it, Next Slide is a series focused on the remixing of art history that examines the ways we recognize images. Textiles from Next Slide will be on view at the SVA booth in Untitled SF in January 2020.
