Chris Pekel
Chris Pekel was born in 1983 and is a Melbourne based, self-taught artist who was born to artistic parents. Chris started painting as a child from the age of 7 years old. Chris is the son of acclaimed Australian artist Herman Pekel who has been a major influence on Chris’ painting style and development. Chris started painting professionally approximately 10 years ago adopting his father’s contemporary impressionism style, during his travels through Victoria. He soon developed and evolved into his own, encompassing both abstract and realistic images into his modern impressionist works. Chris incorporates a range of tones and colours into his works, particularly when creating multiple points of focus on a large landscape piece. Chris Pekel’s works can be identified by his use of large brush strokes, fine detailing and a strong use of contrast. The uniqueness of Chris as an artist is attributed to his ability to incorporate both realistic and illustrative elements onto the canvas, creating a distinct and interesting representation of the subject. Chris has had his works exhibited in galleries nationwide including: IndiCo Galleries, Rozelle and Mosman, NSW Red Hill Gallery, Brisbane, QLD Delshan Gallery, Armadale, WA Spot 81, Chippendale, NSW
