Cynthia Rojas
Biography
Born and raised in Los Angeles. Her annual family visits to Mexico have informed her color palette, along with architectural motifs, vintage textiles, and aerial views of nature and highways which inspire her abstract imagery. The use of color is important in achieving a visual harmony that exists with the use of specific lines and shapes. Her work ranges from silkscreen prints, etchings, paintings and drawings. Cynthia received her BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. She has lived and worked in New York City since 2001 where she received her MFA from School of Visual Arts. Her studio is located in Manhattan and her work can be viewed in the Pierogi Flat Files in the Lower East Side. She has exhibited in California, North Carolina, New York, Japan, Spain and Thailand. She participated in Hermes artist windows on Madison Street and she spent a year in Thailand at CMU's Artist Residency Program and exhibited throughout Bangkok and Chiang Mai.
