Didier Gomez

b. 1975

Biography

Didier Gomez is a French graffiti artist born in 1975. His sole wish is to express his opinions through art, therefore he didn't think it was necessary to go to art school therefore he is self-taught. Influenced by street artists and key figures like Basquiat ou Gee Vaucher, Didier Gomez perceives art as an intention before a know-how. According to him, art belongs to everyone and he draws inspiration from popular forms of artistic expression: tags, graphic design, stencil, tattoo... Didier Gomez's paintings are like a platform where he challenges the society around us, in a deliberately punk manner. He likes to address themes such as preserving the environment, questioning the consumer society. He also thinks about the link between society and the urban area, and the way society has managed to create an urban environment, an indicator of uneasiness.
