Biography
Dran was born in 1979 in Toulouse. As a child, he copied images from comics; around the age of 13 he started expressing himself on walls. Then he attended the Fine Arts School in Toulouse, where his vision of art was different from his fellow students. Dran masters many techniques : graffiti, illustration, drawing, stencil, painting, silkscreen, and photography, which he combines in his works. He is a member of the Da Mental Vaporz crew (DMV) founded in 1999, consisting of Bom-K, Blo, Brusk, Dran, Gris1, ISO, Jaw, Kan, and Sowat & Lek.Behind his deceptively simple and naive cartoon universe, Dran pictures our condition and political drifts, through many forms of dark humor. Dran: “Even though the children in my drawings don’t look like me, the way they play and escape through dreaming is what I’m all about.”
