Biography
The artist, EUGENE VEDER (1876-1936) was a very talented printmaker in Paris, his career reaching an apex in the late 1920's, judging from the works he left behind for history. Born in St. Germain-en-Laye near Paris, he never strayed far from her, observing the physical city and its picturesque inhabitants. By the early 1920's Veder was winning medals for his work, and in 1927 his masterwork, "Paris: Cinquante eaux-fortes en couleurs" (Paris, Fifty etchings in colors) was published. The scenes contained in the set were the familiar and much-loved ones to which people from all over the world still flock today. There is not a lot of biographical information on Veder, but he was a prolific printmaker and apparently was very hands-on in the printing proces
