Field Kallop
Field Kallop’s recent paintings explore geometry, dimensionality, color and pattern. She works with acrylic paint and colored pencil on canvas, mounting her finished pieces onto wooden boards. Her works are systematic and precise, harmonious and balanced. These paintings reveal Kallop’s interest in math and science, as well as her affection for a wide variety of artistic traditions such as modernist painting, tantra drawing and textile practices. Kallop’s intricate and intimate works demand closer inspection, drawing in the viewer and creating an opportunity for quiet introspection. Kallop received an MFA in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2011 and a BA in Art History from Princeton University in 2004. Her work has also been included in numerous group exhibitions at Sargent’s Daughters, Simon Dickinson, Mixed Greens and Tompkins Projects in New York, NY; Eric Firestone Gallery and Silas Marder Gallery in East Hampton, NY; and The ICA in Philadelphia, among others.
