Biography

New York b. 1978 — Francine Hsu Davis’s work explores cultural identity through the memories of the architectural landscapes and built environments. During her extensive travels, she documents the texture, patterns, and colors of the places she visits and brings them back to her studio to create larger oil paintings. Through each series of paintings, she creates a cultural catalogue of specific experience and place to explore the inherent memories and contradictions that exists there. Francine received her BA from Barnard College, Columbia University and MArchI from Yale School of Architecture. She was a resident of the Vermont Studio Center in 2019 and has exhibited on the East and West Coasts.
