Biography
Although born and raised in Latvia having studied at the Latvian Art Academy under the tutelage of some of the nation’s best artists, Fridrihs Milts fled the country during WWII eventually making New York his home. However, the artist always considered himself to be a Latvian painter despite the prolific number of works he painted of skyscrapers. Near the end of his life he proudly claimed that he had ‘two homelands: Hell’s Kitchen and Latvia.’
