Hayley Youngs is a painter and teaching artist living and working in Brooklyn, NY. She holds a BFA from Pratt Institute and her art has been included in group shows, collaborations and benefits at the paradice Palace Gallery, Walter Wickiser Gallery, Satellite Art Show, New York Fashion Week Art events through Art Hearts Fashion, The Rubelle and Norman Schafler Gallery, Sears-Peyton Gallery, Fischbach Gallery, and A.I.R. Gallery in NYC as well as many online/virtual shows and Greenpoint Open Studios. I create my works often spontaneously, allowing my moods to carry the paintbrush around the canvas. My forms and colors conjure their own counterparts, and in the process I quote from a multitude of dialects like abstract expressionism, psychadelia, and color blocking. The loose methods produce surprisingly precise, playful composites whose often symmetrical or Rorschach-like result allows viewers to intuit their own symbols and meanings. Recent works have been specifically influenced by my visits and studies of the architectural landscape designs of the gardens at Versailles by André Le Nôtre as well as historical, medieval Italian Cathedrals. I have taken much enthusiasm from the spiritual designs, symbiotic movement of shapes and grandiose arrangements; incorporating those ideas into my works.
