Biography

William Henry Burns (1924-1995) was a self-taught landscape painter who was born in Belfast. His paintings feature scenes from Connemara, Antrim and Donegal. He held three solo exhibitions in a gallery in Coleraine (formerly run by E. Walker & Co) and his work was also presented at the UTV Art Collection. A typical australian landscape, oil on artist board, in a plain wooden frame, signed lower rights "H.Burns", 1960s or later. Paintings bearing the same type of signature are quite common, but no one has come up with biographical data yet. It is very likely that this painting was done in Asia, e.g. the painting village Dafen in China. The type of handwriting would indicate that. Similar paintings are offered and sold on a a regular basis online, the estimate is based on those results."Asking prices" are often higher and can vary.
