Biography
James Jean is an incredibly versatile Taiwanese-American artist, working over a broad spectrum of styles and imagery, and is known for both his illustration and fine art gallery work. Jean has a non-stop urge to draw, therefore his observational and life-drawing skills are second to none. This is consistently demonstrated in his finished works, which have a fluid, surreal sensibility - often with a dark edge incorporated into his sensitive and subtle details. He is well known for his covers of the graphic novels “Fables”, which have been collated into a highly regarded book. His collected works in the book “Rebus” is also an Outré favourite. James Jean visited Outré Gallery for a book signing and meet’n'greet with fans in 2009 which saw fans lining up around the block in Melbourne CBD.
