Born and raised in Brooklyn, my artwork is inspired by New York and its melting pot of different ethnicities, sub-cultures, and personalities. New York also allows me to explore themes of race relations, and social justice, as well as the resilience of Black consciousnesses and African-American culture. Although New York City has been my muse throughout my artistic life, I also draw inspiration from my travels throughout the United States and abroad. Art is about expression; I live through my expression in various art forms from painting and mixed media, to photography and installation art. I hope to emphasize the need for diverse voices in art and develop a new iconography derived from my history, culture, and background.
