JP-Anne Judy Giera
Biography
JP-Anne Judy Giera (born Cleveland, OH) is a transgender, interdisciplinary artist based in New York City. She holds an MFA in Theatre from Pace University, an MFA in Painting from Lehman College/City University of New York, and spent a year studying in the graduate Performance Studies department at Pratt Institute. Her work has been shown throughout the tri-state area at venues including Bronx Art Space, Ceres Gallery-Chelsea, Trestle Gallery, LIC Arts Open, the International Human Rights Art Festival, and Dixon Place, among others. Giera is a member of the White Columns curated artist registry and of Artfare. She also serves as the Program Manager for EFA Project Space, a non-profit, cross-disciplinary gallery venue dedicated to creating work that is directly connected to the individuals who produce it, the communities that arise because of it, and to everyday life. Currently, Giera’s studio is in the Bronx and she resides in Brooklyn with her two cats.
