Juan Miguel Marin is multidisciplinary artist from Ecuador based in Brooklyn, NY. Marin's work explores the relationship between memory, sound, and emotion. "I discover the work as I make it. In my pieces, the unconscious plays a crucial role, like a guide that reveals a road which can only be seen once it has been traveled in its entirety. I believe in drawing with people, not for people. Through my work, I hope to create a space for self-reflection, a moment to reconnect with our humanity." About "Drawing Under the Influence": “Drawing Under the Influence” (Bajo la Influencia), is a body of work of large-scale Automatic Drawings and site-specific Drawing Performances. In this ongoing series, I am constantly swayed by meditative environmental soundscapes created with site-specific field-recordings, ambiance sounds, and artifacts.
