Hoeckele holds an MFA from Hunter College. Drawing from found images, objects, and texts, Hoeckele constructs photographic work that quotes from and continuously reconfigures dominant works of the Western canon. The act of isolating and recombining source material emphasizes the fragility of a single narrative. In this non-linear space she reconsiders layered histories and builds hypothetical connections across historical, personal, and technological timescales.
