Biography
Libby Mitchell was born in Philadelphia in 1928 and has been creating art for over fifty years. She has a studio in Blue Hill, Maine, a small town in the Northeast of the state, where she lives and works. She is influenced by the New York expressionists and inspired by the Italian Renaissance painters. She uses acrylics in her most recent work as it allows her to paint in complex layers with vibrant colours. Her paintings are in private collections and museums in the United States and Europe.
