Lisette Schumacher's practice revolves around painting. Experimenting with different unexpected tools she works methodically. In her paintings form, allocation and light operation, derived from modernistic architecture are the points of interest. Since a year and a half she focusses on Le Corbusier, a Swiss-French architect from the twentieth century who was an influential urban planner, dedicated to providing better living conditions for the residents of crowded cities. Schumacher visits and observes the designs he has realized in France. During visits or temporary stay,​ she watches how the use of the building has determined its shape, layout and dimensions. At the same time, she observes how the light operation has been optimized for the user. Her findings are motive to paint, creating film-like scenes with reconstructed elements.
