Biography

Lucea Spinelli is a lens based artist and writer based in Brooklyn, NY. After earning a degree in Politics and Philosophy from the University of Edinburgh she began her art practice in earnest in 2015. Since then, her work has been featured by Architectural Digest, Colossal, The Creator’s Project, Ignant, i-ref, Lomography Magazine, Vice among others. Lucea was granted an honorable mention by the International Photography Awards in the category of Night Photography, and has been featured by Tumblr as an artist to watch. Her work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally. Lucea recently received an MFA in Photography, Video and Related Media from the School of Visual Arts. Since graduating, she is a regular contributor to the Millennium Film Journal and was invited to participate in the Film Fest at the Farm where she collaborated on a site specific nine-channel video installation based on a myth she wrote in the form of an epic poem. She currently lives in Brooklyn, where she uses her camera to explore unseen and unknown realms of perception in an effort to inspire awe and wonder at the world around us.
