Lucien Smith is an artist based in New York. Recognized for his work in painting and sculpture, Smith’s work focuses on a variety of topics and concerns like chance and purpose, spareness and saturation, the sublime and the familiar. Part of a group of young artists including Oscar Murillo and Petra Cortright, Smith has gained almost overnight success and rapid appreciation within the art world. His mostly non-representational work saw the 23-year-old named one of Forbes’ 30 notable individuals under 30 in the category “Art & Style.” Smith graduated with a BFA in Painting from the Cooper Union School of Art.
