Biography

Marian Bijlenga is a Dutch artist who studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. She has won several prizes, including : Excellence Award, 6th International Textile Competition, Kyoto, Japan (1999) - Biennial Prize, 2nd International Tapestry Art Biennial, Beijing, China(2002) - Bavarian State Prize, Exempla, Munchen, BRD (2010) She has taught workshops at Kawashima Textile School, Kyoto; Seian Art & Design College, Japan; at the Aalto University School of Art and Design Helsinki, Finland; and at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, USA. Her work is collected internationally, and is represented in the LongHouse Reserve,USA, The Museum of Art & Design, New York, USA, The Craftmuseum, Finland, and the collections of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, CODA Museum, Apeldoorn, and Dutch Textile Museum, Tilburg, NL.
