Mario Laboccetta
Biography
Mario Laboccetta is an italian cartoonist and painter, who gained notoriety in illustrating gallant journals or cabaret in Paris, during the Roaring Twenties (eg Paris Pleasure in 1929). He also illustrated in watercolor fifteen books published at the same time in “semi-precious” collections. The most remarkable of his works is that the illustration made for Tales of Hoffmann, in H. Piazza are either anonymous or signed his name with a spelling that varies over time. Back in Italy, he made his country a few new book illustrations and advertising posters after the Second World War.
