Marlov Barrios
Marlov Barrios was born in Guatemala City in 1980. He studied architecture at the University of San Carlos of Guatemala and recorded in the School of drawing, painting and printmaking La Esmeralda, Mexico DF He is founder of The Torana with whom he participated in the first Triennial of the Caribbean, Dominican Republic in 2010 and the Bienal de Pontevedra Spain in 2010. Also, he co-founded the Experimental Graphic Workshop Guatemala in 2008 and Roulette with the artist Lucrecia Muñoz, space for contemporary art in Guatemala city in 2012. Her work is in private collections in Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Spain and Taiwan. He has presented seventeen solo exhibitions in Guatemala, Mexico and Costa Rica, among which are: Optimus in Gallery Attico, Guatemala 2007; Anthropometric Gallery Medellín 174, Mexico DF 2010; Emblematic Gallery Art Factory, Guatemala 2010; Dynamo Gallery Ana Lucia Gomez Latin American Art, Guatemala 2011; Super Nova Gallery El Tunel, Guatemala 2012; Micro faith Anomaly Gallery, Mexico DF 2013; The dark glory Roulette, Guatemala 2013; Borrasca City of Imagination 2013; Glare gallery El Tunel 2014; Palpitations National Exhibition Gallery San Jose Costa Rica 2014 Plus Volta in the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design in Costa Rica 2014. Among the most important group exhibitions include: the 9th Biennial of Visual Arts of Central America, Guatemala 2014; 19 Paiz Art Biennial 2014; VIII Biennial of Visual Arts of Central America at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Panama 2013; Landings 8 at the Taipei Fine Art Museum, Taipei 2008; La Joven Estampa Casa de Las Americas, Havana Cuba 2007; V Biennial of Visual Arts of Central America in the MARS, El Salvador 2006. In 2014, he published his first book of drawings "heartbeat" with co-publishing Dinamitalibrosarte and Editorial Germinal, San Jose Costa Rica. Among his most important awards are: Glyph of Gold, with Colectivo La Torana at the Sixteenth Biennial of Art Paiz, Guatemala 2008; First Prize at the Second National Exhibition of Printmaking 2008; Glyph Silver, Guest Artists at the XV Biennial of Art Paiz, Guatemala 2006 and mention the minor recorder 30 years in the First National Salon of Engraving Guatemala 2005.
