Biography

Matthew Conradt is a Brooklyn-based artist who uses appropriation and collage to examine visual signifiers of class and American cultural identity. Conradt completed his interdisciplinary MFA from Pratt Institute in 2008. That same year he was awarded as Artist-In-Residence at the Cooper Union School of Art. He has been represented by Muriel Guepin Gallery since 2010, exhibiting in both solo and group exhibitions as well as a solo presentation at Volta Art Fair in 2014. He was a part of the first Artist-In-The-Marketplace Biennial at the Bronx Museum of Art in 2011, was a Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Workspace Artist-In-Residence in 2016/2017 and was recently awarded a New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) Fellowship Grant in 2019. Conradt’s work has been shown at Wave Hill in the Bronx, the Arkansas Arts Center, Caldwell University in New Jersey, Art Helix in Brooklyn, and Art Paris. He has been featured in the New York Times, NY Arts Magazine, Seen Heard Known Magazine, Hyperallergic, and N+1 Magazine.
