Mike Edwards
Biography
Mike Edwards is an established artist based in Brighton UK. Well known for his portraits made of text - Mike recently completed a major portrait of Lord Attenborough made from the names of Hollywood stars - now on permanent display at the new Attenborough Centre for Creative Arts in Brighton. Mike’s work is in collections all over the world - including the collections of Roger Taylor, Zoe Ball and the late publisher Felix Dennis. David Bowie signed Mike’s unique typographic portrait of Aladdin Sane - which went on to raise phenomenal funds for charity at auction. An exceptional painter - Mike started out as a professional artisan artist before developing his own body of work. Amongst many other things, he’s created a stage set for rock band Blur and produced commissioned artworks for Bacardi, Budweiser and Urban Outfitters. Mike continues to push boundaries in new paintings currently in progress in his studio in central Brighton. Education: 1989 BA [Hons] Fine Art, Birmingham Institute of Art & Design
