Biography

Nicholas Prior is a photographer and artist based in New York City. Shows include Yossi Milo Gallery, Robert Koch Gallery, Aperture Gallery, Musee de l’Elysee (Lausanne), the DeCordova Museum, the Contemporary Museum (Baltimore), The Kemper Museum, Preus Museum (Horten), Galleria Carla Sozzani (Milan), V1 Gallery (Copenhagen), and many other venues. His work is included in the books Regeneration, 50 Photographers of Tomorrow (Thames & Hudson & Aperture), Future Images (Motta), Full of Grace (PowerHouse Books), and Presumed Innocence (DeCordova). Other publications include the New York Times Magazine, New York Magazine, Art in America, Details, Marie Claire, The Photo Review, Spin Magazine, Arte, The Walrus, and Design Week. Prior holds an MFA from the School of Visual Arts in NYC, where he teaches in the graduate program of Photography and Related Media. He is the recipient of several awards, including the Griffin Award and grants from the Aaron Siskind Foundation and Getty Images. Prior was selected by Getty Images as a New Photographer 2007 “poised to change the face of advertising”. His work is included in numerous public and private collections. He is represented by Yossi Milo Gallery in New York City and Robert Koch Gallery in San Francisco. Numerous commercial clients include: Time Inc., Microsoft, Samsung, Hearst, Prentice Hall, Harper Collins, HSBC, and McGraw Hill.
