Biography

Romanian b. 1954 – Nicolae Golici is a Romanian/American sculptor, working in a variety of art mediums, from 3D, to drawing, to digital and video. His works address contemporary problems using traditional shapes and construction principles developed during centuries by the old Romanian/Peasant culture. Golici is showing his large scale sculptures in outdoor public spaces to reach a diverse audience. Recent shows include: Wilderstein 5th Outdoor Sculpture Biennial, Rhinebeck, NY, Hammond Museum and Japanese Garden, North Salem, NY, Rockland Center for the Arts, West Nyack, NY, Unison Art Center, New Paltz, NY, Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art, Peekskill, NY, Adelphy University, Garden City, NY. Golici received the The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts Grant, and for many years has been the recipient of The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts Studio Space in NY. Lately he moved his studio Up-State NY for a larger working space. His works have been reviewed in The New York Times.
