Biography
My recent practice focuses on painting and has its origin in drawing. My work is strongly influenced by art and history, in particular the beginning of the 20th and 21st century. It is informed by the quest of historical roots and origins of present developments. I combine these themes in drawings that then get translated into paintings. Most of my imagery includes paradox elements wanting to interrupt and irritate, it still has a relationship to the here and now even if most of the imagery is using historical quotes. My work is a combination of many factors, chance, choice of painting manner and playfulness with imagery. The image as the composition of imagery builds a relationship on canvas without losing the identity of the individual elements.
