Richard Galusha

Biography

Richard Galusha grew up on a ranch outside of Abilene, Texas where he developed a love for and understanding of horses, which he has expressed in his art from a very early age. He moved to Boulder, Colorado with his family of eight brothers and sisters when he was in middle school. After high school, he joined the Navy and traveled to the Far East, Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands. He had a studio in the barracks on the island of Guam and completed many drawings and paintings of island life. After the Navy, he completed his BFA at the University of Colorado in Boulder. In 1986, He moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado for an Art teaching job at the local High School and was for many years an Instructor at Colorado Mountain College. He retired in 2005. His works are in many collections throughout the United States and Europe. Richard's real love is painting in plein air in and around his home in the Hahn's Peak/Steamboat lake area, with his wife Shirley Stocks and their malamutes, Zorn, Sierra and now Timber.

Biography
