Rusudan Melikishvili
Biography
Rusudan Melikishvili lives and works in New York. She was born in Georgia, emigrated to Denmark, where she graduated (MFA) from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. With painting as her main medium Rusudan examines and explores themes and relations between subjects such as gender, body and femininity. Her works are based on some of humankind’s long lasting existential and psychological questions about birth, life, sexuality and mortality. She has received support for numerous residencies and projects including NARS New York Residency and Studio Foundation and ISCP - The International Studio & Curatorial Program, NY. She has exhibited widely internationally in both US and Europe, most recently at The Lviv National Art Gallery and the Hungarian National Museum, among others.
