Secundino Hernández is a contemporary Spanish painter. His work conflates art historical references with tongue-in-cheek contemporaneity, and is particularly influenced by gestural abstract painters like Cy Twombly and Joan Miró. Hernández's large canvases are sparsely adorned with painterly marks, offering a curated placement of cartoonish lines and recognizable figures. Born in Madrid, Spain in 1975, he went on to study at the Spanish Academy in Rome and the Complutense in Madrid. His work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at establishments like the Yuz Museum in Shanghai in 2015 and at Galerie Krinzinger in Vienna in 2007, 2010, and 2014. The artist lives and works in Madrid, Spain.
