Biography

Tamsen Wojtanowski is an artist living and working in Philadelphia, PA. In her studio practice she explores the materiality of the photographic medium. Interested in where the medium of photography might overlap with painting, printmaking and installation, the resulting work oscillates between the abstract and the representational. Tamsen’s work has been shown nationally and internationally, in exhibitions in New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Paris, Vancouver, and Thessaloniki. She is an artist on the White Columns’ Curated Artist Registry (NYC), was a finalist in The Print Center’s Annual Juried Exhibition (Philadelphia), a semifinalist for the Lucie Foundation’s Scholarship Fund Photo Made (Los Angeles), and a Fleisher Wind Challenge Artist (Philadelphia). Tamsen was Silver Eye Center for Photography’s Fellowship18 Keystone Award Winner, juried by Julie Gallun, Assistant Curator in Photography, MoMA (Pittsburgh). She has been featured at AINT BAD, published in The Diffusion Annual, and SELFISH Magazine. Tamsen is a founding member of the artist-run exhibition space, NAPOLEON (Philadelphia). She teaches photography at Tyler School of Art, and the University of the Arts.
