Kentucky native Ted Gordon has lived in northern California for most of his life and was employed as a health care worker until his retirement in 1987. His obsessively detailed portraits are in the collections of Le Musee de l'Art Brut, the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American Art, the American Folk Art Museum, the American Visionary Art Museum, the High Museum of Art, and the Milwaukee Art Museum.
